Carr Canyon Fall Fatal for Sierra Vista Teen

On Friday July 28, 2017 at approximately 3:00 pm, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of an accident at the Carr Canyon falls south of Sierra Vista.

The Sheriff’s Office responded along with Search and Rescue, Fry Fire Department, Forest Service, Sheriff’s Office helicopter Geronimo and a Border Patrol helicopter. Once at the scene they located a group of juveniles near the top of the falls where a 16 year old male who had fallen.

The group which was located near the top of the falls consisted of two 16 year old females and one 9 year old male who were not injured. The girls advised that one of them had slipped near the top of the falls and the 16 year old male, Jaidee Austin helped her before slipping himself and falling several hundred feet down the falls.

Medical personnel were able to reach the male subject, Jaidee Austin, who had fallen and advised he was deceased.

The investigation is being continued by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.
