TPD Arrests Probationary Employee For Domestic Violence

In the evening hours of July 29, 2017, the Tucson Police Department (TPD) was advised of potential misconduct on the part of probationary employee Michael Sauber.

TPD learned Sauber was possibly involved in an off-duty domestic violence incident involving a weapon the previous day. Because the allegations were criminal in nature, the Department initiated both criminal and administrative investigations into Mr. Sauber’s conduct.

The criminal investigation resulted in Mr. Sauber’s arrest for:

  • Domestic Violence/Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (a Class 3 Felony)
  • Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (a Class 3 Felony)
  • Disorderly Conduct (a Class 6 Felony).

On July 30, he was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.

Sauber was hired in April of 2016. Consistent with department policy, he has been placed on imposed leave with pay.
