Douglas Border Patrol Agents Arrest Convicted Kidnapper

Douglas Station Border Patrol agents arrested three Mexican nationals east of town Wednesday night for illegally entering the United States; one of whom was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison on kidnapping charges in Oklahoma.

Agents made the discovery during a records check on 26-year-old Guadalupe Mendoza-Rodriguez. They learned he was convicted in Oklahoma in 2011 for child abduction and sentenced to five years in prison.

Mendoza now faces criminal charges for re-entry of a felon following deportation.

All individuals apprehended by the Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using a biometric system, vital for ensuring illegal immigrants with criminal histories are positively identified.
