Officers were led to the discovery of 42 pounds of cocaine, by a CBP narcotics detection canine

TUCSON, Ariz. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of San Luis apprehended a United States citizen after finding more than 42 pounds of cocaine in his vehicle during a secondary inspection Tuesday morning.

Officers referred a 30-year-old man from Los Angeles, California, for a secondary search of his 2014 Ford truck when he attempted to enter the U.S. from Mexico. During the inspection, a CBP narcotics-detection canine alerted officers to the back of the truck’s cab where they found multiple packages of cocaine worth almost $476,000.

Officers arrested the suspect for narcotics smuggling, and turned him over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. CBP officers also seized the truck and drugs.
