“Pepperballs” Protester Arrested For Assault During Trump Rally

A video shows Josh Cobin kicking a smoke canister at police only to be hit moments later in the groin by a smoke canister shot by police

It was the shot watched across the world that earned 29 year old Joshua Cobin the nickname “Pepperballs.” It was what he did before being shot in the groin while protesting the Trump Rally in Phoenix this week that earned him an arrest record.

Cobin has been arrested on three counts of aggravated assault on police and one count of unlawful assembly during a protest of the president’s visit.

A video that went viral shows Cobin, wearing a gas mask, kicking a tear gas canister back toward police officers. He is then struck in the groin by a pepper ball, a non-lethal projectile much like a rubber bullet but with pepper spray.

In one meme that features Cobin, it appears he made phone calls for Sen. Bernie Sanders during the 2016 election. Photos on his Facebook page give the impression that Cobin is a gambler.

Cobin also posted photos of the Trump Rally protest and admitted to the incident on social media.
