Suspect Involved In Humboldt Courthouse Burglary Arrested

The investigation continued and eventually led to deputies obtaining a search warrant for Loeffler’s home. On the morning of September 12, 2017, deputies served the warrant, found Loeffler and he was arrested. Even after showing him the video surveillance photo, Loeffler denied burglarizing the court house and stealing the payment box.

While searching the suspect, deputies recovered about 2 grams of meth and an injection needle from his pocket. On August 22, 2017, at approximately 1:30 PM, YCSO deputies were dispatched to a burglary involving the Dewey-Humboldt Town Court House located in the 2700 block of Highway 69 at the Town Hall complex. Town staff reported that the court payment box had been stolen around 2:30 am.

The staff reviewed security video and saw the likely suspect enter the courthouse lobby during early morning hours. The staff also realized the same individual was in the courthouse the prior day asking how to pay his fine. He was shown the payment box and how to properly deposit the payment. Records indicated the suspect was 33-year-old Christopher Loeffler who resides in the 12000 block of East Yavapai Street, Dewey-Humboldt.

During the investigation, a deputy familiar with another burglary occurring on September 7, 2017, at the Blue Ridge Market/Chevron on Highway 69 in Dewey, recently learned that Loeffler might be involved. This burglary took place during the early morning hours, triggered an alarm and response by deputies. It was discovered a male suspect forced open the back door and stole cash from the register. A surveillance photo regarding this case was reviewed and a visible tattoo in the photo exactly matched a tattoo on Loeffler’s arm. When questioned, he denied burglarizing the market.

Loeffler was booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center as a suspect on both cases. Charges include 2 count of Trespass, 2 counts of Burglary, and Possession of Dangerous Drugs and Drug Paraphernalia. He remains in-custody on a $3500 bond.
