U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of San Luis apprehended a 30-year-old local woman early Wednesday after finding almost 36 pounds of methamphetamine in her vehicle.
As the woman was returning from Mexico, officers referred her for a secondary inspection of the 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer she was driving. During the inspection, a CBP narcotics-detection canine alerted officers to the car’s door panels where they found multiple packages of meth worth almost $108,000.
Officers arrested the woman for narcotics smuggling and turned her over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. CBP officers also seized the car and drugs.
