PCC Football Player Dies, UA Football Player Injured In Crash

Jordan Waddell, a Pima Community College football player was killed and Donovan Moore, a University of Arizona redshirt junior wide receiver, was injured in a collision on Thursday at around 11:10 p.m.

Tucson Police officers responded to a report of a serious injury vehicle collision on N. Greasewood Rd. and W. Anklam Rd. Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles involved in the collision and immediately began rendering aid while summoning paramedics.

Members from the Tucson Fire Department arrived on scene and resumed treatment. Sadly, the driver Jordan Waddell was pronounced deceased on scene. His passenger, Donovan Moore, was transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries. The adult female driver of the other vehicle had minor injuries and was also transported to a local area hospital.

Detectives were able to determine the driver of a blue 2005 Nissan Altima was stopped for a red light southbound on Greasewood Rd. at W. Anklam Rd. The light turned green and the driver entered the intersection when she was struck by the driver of a black 2017 Infiniti SUV that was eastbound on Anklam Rd. and failed to stop for a red light.

The investigation is ongoing.
