Single Vehicle Collision Fatal At South Wilmot

On Wednesday,  October 11, 2017, at approximately 8:45 p.m., Tucson Police officers and members of the Tucson Fire Department responded to a report of a single vehicle collision at South Wilmot Road and the I-10 underpass. Upon arrival, an adult male driver was located in the vehicle and was sadly pronounced deceased on scene.

Detectives from the Tucson Police Department Traffic Investigations Unit responded to continue the investigation. They were able to determine that a silver 1998 Nissan Altima was southbound on Wilmot Road at a high rate of speed. As the vehicle approached the frontage road, the driver applied his brakes and slid into a concrete column that supports part of the I-10 overpass. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

The driver has been identified as 25-year-old Ryan E. Rhoades.

Traffic fatalities Year-To-Date are up by 20. 9 % compared to the same period last year.
