Cochise Sheriff’s Office Rescues Illegal Alien In The Dragoons

On Saturday October 14, 2017 at approximately 7:50 a.m., the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a 9-1-1 call where the caller reported that he was lost. The caller said that he crossed the border and became lost in an unknown location.

Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue coordinators were able to get a GPS from the phone call and responded to an area north of Sheepshead near Dragoon.

Air support was requested from several sources however the only helicopters able to respond were Sheriff’s Office Geronimo to assist in the search, and the US Air Force from Davis Monthan to assist with air lifts.

The Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue responded with 12 volunteers along with 3 US Border Patrol Agents and the two airships to locate and rescue the illegal immigrant, who was located and brought to safety before being turned over to US Border Patrol.
