Suspect In Dewey Area Sought For Stealing Firearm

On October 29, 2017, deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of Upper Gold Road, Dewey, regarding a theft from vehicle. The victim indicated an unknown suspect or suspects rummaged through 2 UNLOCKED vehicles in her driveway and stole a revolver from one of the vehicles. Deputies believe the suspect walked to several properties checking for unlocked vehicles to burglarize.

The revolver stolen was a Taurus brand M85, .38 Special, ultra-lite titanium in a black nylon holster. The theft occurred between the evening of October 28 and the early morning hours of October 29.

Neighbors reported see a younger male, in his 20’s, ‘jogging’ on Leprechaun Road (which intersects with Upper Gold Road) at least twice over the weekend. He was wearing dark jeans and a shirt, not typical running attire. It is unknown at this time if he is a suspect in this case.

The Prescott Valley Police Department issued a bulletin on October 25, 2017, reporting the theft of a .45 caliber handgun from an unlocked vehicle in the 3700 block of Valerie Drive. The burglary occurred during the early morning hours of October 24, 2017. It is unknown if the incidents are connected.
