56 year Old Bagdad Man Dies In ATV Collision

On November 2, 2017, just before 11AM, deputies were dispatched to East Park Drive in Bagdad for an apparent fatal all-terrain vehicle collision. The location was on an unpaved portion of the road about 2.5 miles east of Lindahl Road. Deputies discovered that a male, later identified as 56-year-old Daniel Fern from Bagdad, was deceased. The initial investigation indicates Fern’s 2015 Yamaha ‘sand rail’ struck several large rocks causing it to tip on its side pinning Fern underneath the vehicle.  He was not wearing a helmet.

Several people who came across the crash remained on scene. The sand rail was still running when the collision was discovered. One of those who remained told deputies she had turned the vehicle off and found Fern had no signs of life. Another person noted they had seen Fern on the road about an hour earlier apparently sleeping in the sand rail. They had a brief conversation and confirmed he was ok.

There were no witnesses to the collision.

Bagdad fire personnel arrived at the scene and confirmed that Fern was deceased. There were no signs of alcoholic beverages or drugs on scene. The body was released to the medical examiner who will determine cause and manner of death.
