Maricopa County McDonald’s Employee Fakes Robbery

On Monday November 13, Maricopa County Sheriff’s detectives arrested and booked 24-year-old Ashley Stewart and her boyfriend, 35-year-old Alexander Reyna for planning and executing a fake robbery of over $22,000 in cash at the McDonald’s where Stewart worked.

According to authorities, Stewart called 911 stating that she was robbed of over $22,000 while attempting to deposit the cash for McDonalds at Western National Bank. She claimed that “a black male” wearing all black held her at gun point. She told detectives the robber took the cash from her and then fled into the desert on foot. Stewart, an employee of McDonald’s was making a cash deposit for her employer when the alleged incident occurred.

Detectives responded to the scene and after briefly speaking with Stewart felt that her story and allegations lacked credibility. While they continued to question her, she admitted to not being robbed. Instead, she confessed to planning the fake robbery with her boyfriend, Reyna.

Stewart stated that the scam required her to meet up with Reyna after the planned robbery at which time they would split the cash.

Stewart was booked on one (1) count of Theft-Control Property a Class 3 Felony, and one (1) count of False Report to Law Enforcement, a misdemeanor. Alexander was booked on one (1) count of Theft-Control Property, a Class 3 Felony. They have both since been released.
