DPS & NAU Team Up To Promote Careers In Law Enforcement

Phoenix — The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) and Northern Arizona University (NAU) will host 70 students from Washington High School, Franklin Police and Fire High School and NAU as they get an up-close look inside the Department December 4th.

The Students will tour:

  • Central Operational Communications Center (OPCOMM)
  • Central Crime Laboratory
  • Virtual firearms training simulator
  • Observe demonstrations by a K9 team

DPS Director Frank Milstead and NAU President Rita Cheng will host a media availability and student welcome on Monday, December 4th at 9:15 a.m. in the Public Service Center Training Room located at 2222 W. Encanto Boulevard.

Both leaders will address the need for sworn and professional staff at all Arizona public safety agencies. The DPS’ open house, in conjunction with NAU, is designed to interest high school and college students in a law enforcement career by showcasing job opportunities for civilian professionals and for those interested in becoming law enforcement officers.
