Saturday, December 2, 2017, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Fire Department and TPD responded to a report of a serious injury collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck near W. Silverlake Road and S. Cottonwood Lane.

An Officer who was leaving the Pima County Jail came across the collision moments after it happened and observed the motorcyclist lying unresponsive in the roadway. The officer began administering CPR until TFD arrived and took over medical treatment. Shortly after the Fire Department arrived, the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on scene.

Tucson Police Traffic Detectives responded to continue the investigation. They were able to determine that a 2007 F-150 Pickup Truck was stopped at a stop sign facing northbound at Cottonwood Lane and Silverlake. At the same time, a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Silverlake Road in the curb lane. As the motorcycle approached Cottonwood Lane, the pickup truck pulled out onto Silverlake Road to make a westbound turn. The motorcyclist was unable to stop in time and collided with the truck. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. The driver of the truck remained on scene and no signs of impairment were detected. Detectives are still actively investigating the collision. No citations or arrests have been made at this time.

The adult male motorcyclist was identified at the scene. His name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
