Franks Resignation Leads To Replacement Speculation [POLL]

Arizona Congressman Trent Franks seeks answers at the First Amendment Protections on Public College and University Campuses Hearing

Rep. Trent Franks announced his immediate resignation from Congress on Friday. The sudden resignation of Congressman Franks stunned many of his constituents and sent the rumor mill into high gear.

Just who might run to replace him in Congressional District 8 is the question of the day.

“Republicans made up 41 percent of registered voters in the district, according to the latest registration numbers from the Arizona Secretary of State, compared to 24 percent for Democrats and 34 percent for independents,” according to Cronkite News. As a result, the focus is on members of the GOP.

So far, Arizona State senators Steve Montenegro, Kimberly Yee, and Debbie Lesko and representative Darin Mitchell are rumored to be considering a run.

Arizona law requires the governor’s office to announce the dates for a special primary election and a special election within 72 hours from the time of the resignation. The special primary election must be held within 80-90 days, followed by a special general election 50-60 days after that.

If the election were held today, who would you vote for?
