Phoenix Smuggler Caught With More Than $64K In Marijuana

Officers discovered packages of marijuana when they peeled back the bedliner of a smuggling vehicle

TUCSON, Ariz. – Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of Lukeville arrested a 35-year-old Phoenix man Sunday afternoon after finding almost 129 pounds of marijuana, worth in excess of $64,000, in his Chevy truck.

Officers referred the man for a secondary inspection of his vehicle when he applied to return to the United States. As a result, a CBP canine helped officers find more than a dozen marijuana bundles hidden throughout the truck.

Officers arrested the subject and turned him over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. Officers also seized the drugs and the vehicle.
