Tucson Police Investigating Possible South Side Murder Suicide

The Tucson Police Department is actively investigating an apparent murder/suicide that occurred on Tucson’s South Side.

On January 18, 2018, officers were dispatched to a residence in 5100 block of S. River Run Dr. to perform a welfare check. An employer called police to check on a female employee after she failed to show up for work. Officers attempted to contact the female but did not receive a response. Officers entered the residence and located an adult female and an adult male inside with obvious gunshot trauma. They were both pronounced deceased on scene.

Their identities are being withheld, pending next of kin notification.

Detectives say it appears the male shot the female before taking his own life. Detectives learned the male and female had been in a relationship and lived at the residence. They are still working to determine what led up to the shooting.

If you have any information about the incident, please call 88-CRIME (you can remain anonymous).
