3 Vehicle Collision On Tucson’s West Side Turns Fatal   

On January 08, 2018, around 2:15 p.m., Tucson Police officers and members from the Tucson Fire Department responded to East 6th Street and North 4th Avenue for a report of a vehicle collision involving serious injury. Upon arrival, they located three vehicles involved in the collision.

The adult male driver of one of the vehicles was transported to Banner University Medical Center with serious injuries. The drivers of the other vehicles were not injured.

The investigation on scene revealed the driver of a red 2002 Ford F150 was traveling eastbound on 6th St. approaching a red light at N. 4th Ave. The driver failed to stop for the red light and struck a white 2006 Ford F150 stopped for the light. The white F150 then struck a white 2000 Honda CRV also waiting at the light. Speed does not appear to be a factor in this collision.

However, the investigation is ongoing reference possible impairment on the driver of the red F150. The driver of the red F150 was not wearing a seatbelt.

On January 21, 2018, the driver of the red F150 succumbed to injuries received during the collision and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. He has been identified as 67-year-old Michael Hidalgo.
