Tucson Police Investigating Deadly East Side Shooting

The Tucson Police Department is actively investigating the fatal shooting of Roger Rene Quiroz Jr. that occurred Tuesday evening in Midtown Tucson.

On January 30, 2018, at 7:21 p.m., the Tucson Police Department received a 911 call from a male who advised that he had just shot someone in the parking lot of an apartment complex located at 5121 East 29th Street. Officers responded to the complex where they located and detained the shooter for questioning. The shooting victim was found lying in the parking lot and officers immediately began rendering first-aid. Tucson Fire took over medical treatment; however, the male was pronounced deceased on scene shortly after their arrival.

Detectives were able to determine that the two males were involved in an altercation before the shooting took place. Quiroz was armed with a knife, but investigators are still trying to determine the exact details of what led up to the shooting.

The shooter was interviewed and released. Detectives are continuing the investigation and asking anyone with information to please call 911 or 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.
