Sierra Vista Woman, Phoenix Man Nabbed With Meth At Checkpoint

Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents from the Nogales Station arrested a 31-year-old Sierra Vista woman and 32-year-old Phoenix man Monday night after finding more than 450 grams of methamphetamine and cocaine at the Interstate 19 Immigration Checkpoint.

Agents referred the driver of a Chevy Malibu for a secondary inspection after a Border Patrol canine alerted to an odor it was trained to detect coming from the vehicle. While conducting a search on the vehicle and occupants, agents discovered packages of meth concealed under the woman’s clothing and cocaine in her purse.

Agents arrested the male driver and female passenger for smuggling while seizing the vehicle and narcotics. The methamphetamine had an estimated street value of over $25,000. The cocaine was estimated at over $500.
