U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Naco, Arizona, prevented a Tucson resident from smuggling nearly 31 pounds of marijuana on Monday.
Officers at the port referred a 28-year-old man for a secondary inspection of his Dodge sedan on Monday. A CBP canine alerted to an odor it was trained to detect, leading officers to the fuel tank. Multiple marijuana packages were removed, worth approximately $15,000.
Officers seized the drugs and the vehicle. The subject was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
