Detectives from the Tucson Police Department Traffic Investigations Unit have furthered the investigation into last month’s fatal hit and run collision involving a pedestrian arresting Byron Horton. The detectives received a tip from a community member who learned about the incident on the local news and was able to provide them with information on a possible suspect and suspect vehicle.
The pedestrian killed in yesterday’s fatal hit and run collision was identified as 65-year-old Sook Ja Park.
The suspect was identified as 43-year-old Byron Horton. The detectives located a silver 2016 Dodge Journey associated to Mr. Horton at a local body shop that had damage consistent with the collision.
Officers located Mr. Horton and detained him without incident. He was arrested for Hit and Run Involving a Death, a Class 2 Felony. He was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
