Editor’s note: Rep. Finchem claims that he “volunteered to swap with a promising freshman,” Rep. Becky Nutt, “for exposure and skills development.”

Speaker of the House J.D. Mesnard announced several House committee assignment changes and additions due to the upheavals in the chamber due to recent scandals.

Newly appointed Rep. Tim Dunn, who replaced Don Shooter, will take the place of Rep. Paul Mosley on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, and will also serve on the House Energy, Environment & Natural Resources Committee; and the House Land, Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee.

Mesnard replaced Shooter with Rep. David Livingston as Chair of the House Appropriations Committee.

Majority Leader John Allen will take the place of Rep. Jeff Weninger on the House Banking & Insurance Committee, and will also serve as chair of the committee for the remainder of the session.

Due to reported personality conflicts on the part of Rep. Mark Finchem, with other members on the House Federalism, Property Rights & Public Policy Committee, Rep. Becky Nutt and Finchem will swap assignments on the House Land, Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee and the House Federalism, Property Rights & Public Policy Committee, with Nutt assuming Finchem’s duties as vice-chair.
