As Homicide Detectives continued to investigate the October 18, 2017 shooting, they were able to determine that 46-year-old Paul Larry Gasbarri was the other suspect involved in the armed robbery and attempted carjacking at the “Desert Sports and Fitness” on October 18, 2017. Gasbarri fled in Daniel Spear’s vehicle after Spear ran to the car wash located at 7811 E. Tanque Verde.
Gasbarri attempted to pick Spear up at the carwash, but police were already on scene, so he left the area.
On Friday, February 9, 2018, Gasbarri was located at a business in the 5100 block of North Oracle Road. On-duty Tucson Police SWAT officers and K-9 units worked with agents from the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force to take Gasbarri into custody without incident.
Gasbarri was booked into the Pima County Jail on charges of First Degree Murder, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Robbery, Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault w/a Deadly Weapon and 2 counts of Prohibited Possessor.
