On Friday March 2, 2018 Alexander DeGarmo notified the Lincoln, Nebraska Dick’s Sporting Goods store of his resignation and posted a scathing resignation letter on Facebook(below) hammering his former employer and its CEO, Edward Stack.

Dick’s Sporting Goods decision to stop selling firearms to anyone under 21 has caused the 20-year-old employee to take a public stand against the retailer’s “restriction of the Second Amendment.”

DeGarmo wrote, “I believe it is morally and unconstitutionally wrong to infringe upon the rights of law abiding citizens in any way, and I will not work for a company that pushes for the restriction of the Second Amendment,” DeGarmo, added that Stack is engaging in “systematic discrimination” for singling out otherwise law-abiding citizens based on their age.

In his letter, DeGarmo praised his former managers and co-workers in his resignation letter as well, writing, “My coworkers and management at store 1244 were always of the highest standing and quality, I have no complaints about their work ethic or moral standing.”

Another twenty year old Millennial Griffin McCullar , who lives in North Carolina reacted to the Dick’s Sporting Goods  decision on February 28, 2018 giving them two weeks notice of his resignation as a result of this announcement.

McCullar’s letter made the point. Why should he sell a product that the store won’t allow him to buy, even though it is legal? During a segment on a Saturday Fox News,McCullar’s  a part o his  statement in his resignation letter was featured.

Clearly the issue of school safety has fostered significant efforts by companies to project an image to the public that they are against the use and availability of semiautomatic weapons to a class of people (under 21) for which there is no information supporting that premace.

One positive indication results from this situation is that there is reason to have hope that the much “Maligned Millennials” are clear thinking and unafraid to act on their convictions.
