10th Annual Bilingual Literacy Fair/Feria de la Lectura This Saturday

On Saturday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to noon at the El Pueblo Activity Center, 101 W. Irvington Rd., Councilwoman Regina Romero and the Consulado de Mexico en Tucson will host the 10th Annual Feria de la Lectura, or Bilingual Literacy Fair. The Feria is free and open to the public.

The Feria de la Lectura promotes bilingual literacy for the whole family. Free books in Spanish and English, backpacks, and school supplies are available while supplies last.

“Literacy is the pathway to success for our children. It is especially important for bilingual youth to read in both English and Spanish,” said Councilwoman Regina Romero. “Nurturing these critical language skills will help young people stay connected to their culture and provide for a competitive advantage in the global job market of the future.”

“This year, we have moved the event from the end of summer to the beginning of summer to prepare kids for a summer of reading” said Councilwoman Romero.
