On Thursday, Senator John McCain’s daughter, Meghan, tweeted out her plans to head Arizona. Earlier this week, the ailing senator was in stable condition after undergoing surgery for diverticulitis.
“I am going home to Arizona today to be with my family for the rest of the week but will return Monday. Thank you all again for your kind words and prayers for my father – it really means so much to my family,” tweeted Meghan.
This week, Arizona legislators put an emergency clause on a bill, HB2538, that would change the way members of Congress, who die or resign are replaced. The clause was crafted to ensure that if Sen. McCain’s seat is vacated, his replacement will not have to run for re-election until 2020.
The last view of the senator was tweeted out by Meghan in March. The senator’s failing health was very apparent.
