Pima County Foothills Homicide Suspect Arrested

Following their initial investigation Thursday morning into the death of 71-year-old Robert Belman at his home in the 5400 block of East Calle Barril, Pima County Sheriff’s detectives identified 34-year-old Frank Eugene Martinez Jr. as a suspect. Friday morning, detectives located Martinez, as well as Mr. Belman’s stolen 2017 Toyota Tacoma  which was in the area of where Martinez was located.

Mr. Martinez was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex and charged with 1st Degree Murder, Kidnapping, 2nd Degree Burglary, and Unlawful Use of Means of Transportation.

Thursday morning at approximately 9:00 a.m., deputies responded to a residence in the 5400 block of East Calle Barril after associates of the homeowner requested a check welfare, claiming they had not heard from him in a few days. When deputies arrived to the home, they found a door open and were unable to make contact with the homeowner. While deputies were clearing the inside of the residence, they found Mr. Belman dead under suspicious circumstances.
