Nogales Police Officer Killed By Armed Carjacker

Nogales Police Officer Jesus Cordova was killed in the line of duty today. According to authorities, on Friday, April 27, 2018, Nogales Police officers responded to the area of 2900th Block of N. Grand Avenue, regarding an armed carjacking incident.

Officer Jesus Cordova located the vehicle driving away from the scene. He initiated a traffic stop by N. Grand Avenue/ W. Mesa Verde Drive.

The suspect then exited his vehicle and fired shots at Officer Codova, striking him. The suspect then again carjacked another vehicle from that scene and left. Moments later, the suspect carjacked a third vehicle in the area of N. Frank Reed Road. The suspect was then located in the area of W. Mariposa Road/ N. Frank Reed Road, by assisting agencies. The suspect fled from law enforcement and bailed out. The suspect ran away from law enforcement and was located in a trailer park, where he was taken into custody.

No other suspects are at large.
