crime

On Friday April 27, 2018, around 11:26 p.m., Tucson Police officers and members from the Tucson Fire Department responded to a report of a serious injury collision involving two vehicles on S. Swan Rd. and E. 29th St., resulted in the death of Connie Setrum.

The Tucson Fire Department arrived on scene and confirmed the adult female driver of one of the vehicles did not survive her injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The adult male driver of the other vehicle was transported to Banner University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives learned the driver of a black 2006 Dodge Charger was southbound on Swan Rd., approaching E. 29th St., at a high rate of speed. 58-year-old Connie Setrum the driver of a red 2004 Ford Mustang was northbound on Swan Rd. in the left turn lane to head west on 29th St. The driver of the Mustang made a left turn in front of the driver of the Charger and the two collided. The Mustang went up on the side walk and struck a pole on the southwest quad. The Charger rolled over onto its top and landed south of the intersection. Speed appears to be a factor in this collision.

The investigation also revealed impairment may be a factor related to the driver of the Mustang. The investigation is ongoing and no citations or arrests have been made at this time.
