On Wednesday, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey issued a statement condemning those who would speculate on just who will replace Sen. John McCain. Ducey’s spokesman, Daniel Scarpinato tweeted:

“Those of us here in Az paying both personal AND business taxes, resent not having Senatorial representation. We deserve to have a Senator doing his job, and if unable then they should step away and let someone do it. The seat belongs to US,” replied on Twitter follower.
Scott Wong, a writer for The Hill tweeted:
SCOOP: Arizona Gov. @DougDucey quietly met with @SenJohnMcCain and his wife Cindy yesterday at the couples’ home near Sedona. The meeting came before a key deadline and amid speculation about who Ducey might appoint to succeed the ailing senator https://t.co/8Qa3czdunR

McCain spokeswoman Julie Tarallo told Wong in an email, “Senator McCain and Cindy enjoyed a visit with Governor Doug Ducey and First Lady Angela Ducey in Cornville, Arizona, yesterday. The McCains are grateful for the Ducey family’s longstanding friendship and support.”
According to the popular conservative website, Seeingredaz.com, “When Doug Ducey initially arrived in Arizona in 1983 to attend ASU, he worked at Hensley & Co., the Anheuser-Busch distributorship owned by Cindy Lou Hensley McCain.”
Wednesday was the last day a special election could be called before 2020 to replace the terminally ill senator. Now, Ducey has the power to appoint McCain’s replacement when his time comes.
On Monday, a report in Newsmax that Governor Doug Ducey is expected to appoint Cindy McCain to replace her husband Sen. John McCain set social media ablaze. Newsmax reported that “Cindy McCain following John in the Senate through appointment by Gov. Doug Ducey, R-Ariz., is a near certainty.”
