Santan Man Sentenced For Lying To Grand Jury

Alvaro Sabori, 43, of Santan, a member of the Gila River Indian Community, was sentenced to 18 months in prison. Sabori had previously pleaded guilty to false declaration to the grand jury.

On Oct. 23, 2016, a man was found dead on the side of the road in Sacaton, Ariz., from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Based on information from a witness, Sabori was subpoenaed to testify before a federal grand jury regarding the investigation into this killing. Sabori lied to the grand jury about the shooting, which had occurred at his home earlier in the evening.

One year later, Enrique Bandin was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the killing of that victim at Sabori’s home.
