On Friday, July 6, 2018, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received positive identification of the 17 year old male juvenile driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.On Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at approximately 3:45 a.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle fire in the area of South Avenue E and West County 10th Street.
The initial investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling westbound on County 10th Street when it ran off the right (north) side of the road and struck an irrigation canal, which caused the vehicle to roll and come to rest on its roof. When emergency personnel arrived on scene, they found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.
The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
