Tucson Pedestrian Killed On South Side

On July 7, 2018, shortly after 2:30 a.m., Tucson Police officers responded to the area of W. Valencia Rd. and S. Fiesta Ave. for a report of a serious injury collision involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, they observed community members performing CPR on 41-year-old Gabriel Ramirez in the roadway and officers took over treatment.

Mr. Ramirez was pronounced deceased on scene.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Detectives were able to determine the driver of a gray 2014 Toyota Rav 4 was westbound on Valencia Rd. in the median lane. Mr. Ramirez ran from north to south across Valencia Rd., west of 6th Ave. in front of the Rav 4. The driver was unable to stop and struck Mr. Ramirez. The driver immediately pulled over and remained on scene. Mr. Ramirez was not in a crosswalk.

Detectives are continuing this investigation to determine if speed was a factor in this collision. There were no signs of impairment on the driver of the Rav 4 and the investigation is ongoing to determine if Mr. Ramirez was impaired.

Detectives are continuing this investigation and no arrests or citations have been issued at this time.
