A Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputy shot a dog after it attacked his K9 partner, Tarzan. Deputies were responding to a fight between a mother and son at a Youngtown home.
Last night, K9 Officer Tarzan was attacked by a pit bull and hurt in the line of duty while responding to a call. Tarzan and his handler Deputy Gulikers are in our thoughts. ❤️ We wish Tarzan a quick and full recovery. #NationalFriendshipDay pic.twitter.com/rj682838N4

MCSO deputies and a K9 named Tarzan were called to a home near 112th and Peoria avenues Saturday night. Tarzan was attacked by the owners pit bull, Chevy.
According to officials, Chevy’s owner attempted to separate the dogs, but Chevy would not let go. Authorities claim that the deputy ran out of options and was forced to shoot the dog.
Tarzan suffered an injury to his rear leg, puncture wounds to his chest, and broken teeth.
