Two foreign nationals, who were previously convicted for sex crimes against children, were arrested by Border Patrol agents during separate weekend incidents, southwest of Tucson.
Juan Hernandez-Arnas, a 28-year-old Mexican national, was arrested Friday night east of Lukeville. During a fingerprint and criminal records check, agents discovered Hernandez-Arnas was convicted in 2012 for “Lewd or Lascivious Acts with a Child under 14 years old” in Bakersfield, California, and sentenced to six years in prison.
Tucson Station agents arrested 26-year-old Yelson Banegas-Barahona from Honduras, on Saturday. Agents discovered during a records check, that Banegas-Barahona was convicted in 2010 for a sex offense against a child in Roswell, Georgia; securing him a five-year prison sentence.
