Tuba City Man Sentenced For Assaulting Federal Officer

A Tuba City man, Raymond Wilson Jr., age 25, was sentenced last week for assaulting a Navajo Nation Police officer. Wilson, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, had previously pleaded guilty to assault on a federal officer.

Wilson was sentenced to 12 months and one day of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release.

On November 21, 2017, a Navajo Nation police officer was dispatched to Wilson’s residence after receiving reports that Wilson was intoxicated and acting disorderly. When the officer attempted to place Wilson under arrest, he resisted, swung his fist at the officer, and wrestled the officer to the ground. After being handcuffed, Wilson pushed, kicked, and head-butted the officer.
