On Friday, David Huffines, age 40, was shot after opening fire on a Mesa Police officer. On Sunday, Huffines died from his injuries.
The Friday shooting happened around Main Street and Sossaman Road.
According to authorities, officers were reportedly patrolling the area when they noticed Huffines sitting on the sidewalk along Main Street near 74th Street. When officers approached Huffinesto to check on his welfare, he allegedly pulled out a gun and shot at an officer. The officer returned fire.
