Suspect In Yavapai County Campground Beating Turns Himself In

Robert Pearsall, a suspect in a beating that occurred on September 8, at a Yavapai County campground, has turned himself into authorities.

Pearsall allegedly approached a 45-year-old man on September 8, at approximately 9:00 p.m., at a Verde River camp site in the Drake area. Pearsall is accused of acting “in an unprovoked manner and without warning,” when he “struck the victim about the head, face, and chest multiple times with a hardened piece of wood.”

According to authorities, “the strikes caused severe swelling, laceration and blood loss to the head and face of the victim. The blows were hard enough to break and splinter the wood used by Pearsall in the assault. Pearsall fled the scene after being confronted by witnesses.”

The victim was transported first by vehicle from the campsite to Drake and HWY 89 while he was in and out of consciousness during the 20 minute drive. He was eventually airlifted to Flagstaff Medical Center with serious injuries and continues treatment.
