Trump Is The Best Ally Hispanics Could Want

Democrats want your vote. President Trump wants your potential.

Democrats champion themselves as the party for Hispanics, but they don’t back it up with policies that will actually help us. Instead, they just offer handouts and portray Republicans as racists, then arrogantly assume that we’ll fall for their cynical and divisive ploys every time.

When it comes to identity politics, Democrats play the game as well as anyone. But when it comes to giving people a leg up, instead of a handout, President Trump is the man for the job.

When Hispanic unemployment reached a historic high in 2011, then-businessman Donald Trump knew something had to change. After just 21 months in office, President Trump has done more for Hispanic Americans than any president in history.

As a direct result of the President’s pro-growth, pro-business agenda, Hispanic unemployment is now at its lowest rate ever recorded. It’s exactly what Hispanics have been waiting for, clearing the path for an explosion of entrepreneurial ambition that had been suppressed by the Washington establishment for decades.

When Democrats try to lure minority voters with handouts, they’re really just holding them back from fulfilling their potential. In President Trump’s economy, the opposite is happening.

When Democrats controlled the levers of power in Washington, Hispanic unemployment hovered near all-time highs. Today, the business-friendly environment the President has created is encouraging Hispanics to take entrepreneurial risks that they would never have considered in years past.

According to JP Morgan Chase, “Latino entrepreneurs are starting small businesses faster than the rest of the startup population and becoming a bigger part of the total U.S. market every day.”

The average annual revenue of Latino-owned businesses rose from $260,000 in 2016 to $330,000 in 2018 — an impressive increase of 26.5 percent — according to Forbes, which called the success “stunning” and attributed it to the overall strength of the U.S. economy.

A 2015 Stanford University study estimated that Hispanic-owned businesses could add an additional $1.4 trillion to the U.S. economy by catching up to the average revenues of other businesses. That’s more than the GDP of most countries in the world, and thanks to the rapid economic growth since President Trump took office, we’re already almost halfway to that goal.

This did not happen by accident. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act gave Americans their largest wage increase in nearly a decade, and the President’s success in eliminating unnecessary regulations is further stimulating business investment and expansion.

Democrats believe that taxing the middle class is the best way to level the playing field, but with ever-more Hispanics joining the ranks of the middle class thanks to President Trump’s policies, that approach is the last thing we need.

After years of stagnation, President Trump has offered a new path forward — one that empowers millions of Hispanics to fulfill their potential.

For too long, Democrat strategists have viewed Hispanics as a single-issue group to be manipulated for votes. They want us to play the identity politics game, taking every opportunity to create an us-versus-them mentality in our communities.

Not anymore. Unlike the Democrats, President Trump knows that we’re all Americans, and that we all succeed when the burdens of government taxation and regulation are reduced significantly. Hispanics should keep this mind and vote for GOP candidates on November 6th to back President Trump’s agenda and America’s ongoing success.
