2 U.S. Citizens Nabbed For Smuggling By CBP At DeConcini Crossing

On Thursday, two United States citizens were arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers  n two separate drug smuggling events , according to the agency.

A 19-year-old Phoenix woman was referred for further inspection of her Ford sedan by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers working the Dennis DeConcini Crossing.

According to CBP, after a CBP canine indicated it detected drugs, officers removed two cylindrical packages from her purse.

The packages contained heroin valued at nearly $30,000.

A 37-year-old Murray, Utah woman was referred for further inspection late in the day of her Honda van. After a  CBP narcotics canine detected contraband, officers found 13 pounds of cocaine worth approximately $302,000 within the vehicle’s rear quarter panel,

Both women were arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, according to CBP.
