Illegal Alien Assaults Border Patrol Agent

A Tucson Sector Border Patrol agent was assaulted by a 19-year-old Mexican man on Wednesday south of Bisbee. The man, who struck the agent in the head with a rock, was charged with assaulting a U.S. Federal agent.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the agent was responding to a call of possible illegal alien activity near a residence.

The agent attempted to arrest the suspect as he ran from the area, but illegal alien resisted arrest by fighting with and striking the agent in the head with a rock.

CBP reports that the illegal alien got away briefly after the assault, but “with the help of other Border Patrol agents; Air and Marine Operations assets; and night vision technology, the man was quickly apprehended.”

The agent was taken to a local hospital for treatment and has since been released.

The Mexican national will be processed for immigration violations and charged with assault on a Federal agent.
