The Pima County Sheriff’s Office is investigation a home invasion that took place on January 7, 2019, at approximately 3:30 a.m.
Deputies responded to a check welfare in the 1200 block of E. Summit Street, near Summit and Old Nogales Highway. Deputies discovered that an adult male suspect had attempted to break into multiple residences in the area. At the final residence, a shooting occurred, and an adult male resident was injured and transported to a local hospital.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect became unresponsive while being taken into custody. Deputies performed life saving measures and the suspect was transported to Banner Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation, which is ongoing and is still in the early stages.
