Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Seeks Applicants to Replace Denny Barney

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors is seeking applicants for appointment to District 1 Supervisor. Current District 1 Supervisor Denny Barney is stepping down effective February 1 to focus on his position as the President and CEO of the East Valley Partnership.

Barney took over his new role as President and CEO of the East Valley Partnership on a part-time basis in May, 2018 while continuing to represent the residents of District 1. The partnership is a nonpartisan coalition that advocates in areas such as economic development, education, transportation and infrastructure, arts and healthcare. Supervisor Barney was elected in 2012 and served as Board Chairman in 2014 and 2017. His district includes Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, Tempe, Sun Lakes, West Mesa and Ahwatukee.

To qualify for appointment as the new District 1 Supervisor, you must:

be registered to vote in District 1 when you submit the application
be a member of the same political party as the person vacating (Republican)
