Goughnour nominated to Arizona Game And Fish Commission

PHOENIX — James Goughnour, a 68-year-old Payson man who owns a custom fishing rod business, has been nominated by Gov. Doug Ducey to become an Arizona Game and Fish commissioner.

Goughnour is described by the governor’s offfice as an “outdoors enthusiast and driving force for wildlife conservation and outdoor recreation in the Payson area.”

An Arizona resident for 42 years, Goughnour owns Rim Country Custom Rods, a manufacture and repair firm. He previously worked 26 years for General Dynamics Aerospace Systems Group in Scottsdale, where he worked his way up to the position of manager for all aspects of the Aerospace Operations Program, said a release from the governor’s office.

Goughnour is an active community volunteer. His numerous activities include working with the Payson Parks and Recreation Department on its annual wildlife fair; participating in the Green Valley Lake Kids Fishing Program and serving as chair of the Gila County Roundtable.

Goughnour is past president of the Mogollon Sporting Association, and a member of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society, the National Rifle Association and the Tonto Rim Sports Club.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix. His appointment is pending confirmation by the Arizona Senate.
