TEMPE — Kristina Howato, age 39, has been identified by Tempe Police as the pregnant Lyft driver who was brutally stabbed to death by a passenger Sunday morning.
Howato and her unborn baby died as a result of the attack, which occurred outside an apartment complex.
Howato, who was in her third trimester of pregnancy, is survived by two other young children.
Fabian Durazo , age 20, allegedly attacked Howato when they arrived at an apartment building near 8th Street and McClintock at 1:30 a.m. He fled in her SUV.
Durazo was arrested Sunday afternoon.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officials used the vehicle’s GPS system to track the SUV on Interstate 10 near Quartzsite, Arizona.
