TUCSON – A sex offender from Guatemala, and a Honduran MS-13 gang member were arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents in separate incidents near Casa Grande this past weekend. Both men had been previously deported.
Mariano Sic-Cua, a 39-year-old Guatemalan national, was arrested Friday after he entered the U.S. illegally through the desert,” said a statement from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.
Agents discovered during processing that Sic had a felony conviction in 2010 for sexual assault in Palm Beach, Florida, for which he served 10 months in jail.
Sic will be held in federal custody and prosecuted for re-entry of a previously deported felon.
Two days later agents patrolling near Cowlic arrested Honduran citizen Christopher Aquino-Canaca, a confessed MS-13 gang member. Agents discovered that Aquino was previously removed twice from the United States by immigration officials.
Aquino was found with a group of six other people who were present in the country illegally. Aquino and the other members of his group will be processed for immigration violations.
