Previously deported sex offender arrested by Border Patrol

TUCSON — A previously deported convicted sex offender, Jose Geovani Flores, was arrested by Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents after he entered the U.S. illegally Friday evening east of Lukeville.

Flores, a Honduran national with a “violent criminal history, was convicted in Travis County, Texas in 2011 for sexual assault and was sentenced to two years in prison,  said a release fromU.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Border Patrol agents were patrolling near the border when they discovered four individuals who entered the country illegally. After the group was transported to the Ajo Station for processing, agents discovered Flores’ criminal record in the United States.

Flores will remain in federal custody to face felony immigration charges in Arizona for his illegal reentry.
