Lukeville port inspectors seize meth worth almost $60,000

LUKEVILLE —  A 35-year-old Mexican national was arrested Saturday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of Lukeville, after 19 pounds of methamphetamine were discovered in his vehicle.

The driver of a Ford truck was referred for a secondary inspection of his Ford truck as he applied to enter the United States from Mexico, said a release from CBP Arizona.

A narcotics detection K-9 led officers to almost 20 packages of methamphetamine hidden within the vehicle’s backseat and quad cab door.

The drugs are worth an estimated street value of more than $59,000, the CBP release said.

The man was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the vehicle were seized.
